Bites

These terms are the agreement between you and Dylan Steiner ("Bites", "we") for use of the Bites app. By creating an account or using the app, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use Bites.
You must be at least 13 years old. You need one account, registered with accurate details, and you are responsible for what happens under it — so keep your password to yourself. Your display name is unique and public.
Bites collects prices reported by ordinary people. It is a guide, not a guarantee. Prices change, restaurants change their menus, and people make mistakes when typing. Always check the actual price before you buy. Bites is not responsible for a price being out of date or wrong, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for any of the restaurants or businesses that appear in it. Business names and details come from Google Maps and remain the property of their owners.
What you post — prices, ratings, reviews, photos, comments — stays yours. By posting it you give Bites a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, store and distribute it inside the app and its related services, so that other people can see it. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for the anonymised price records described in the Privacy Policy.
Only post photos you took yourself or have the right to use, and only report prices you actually saw.
You may not post, upload or send anything that:
You also may not scrape or bulk-extract data from Bites, attempt to break its security, or use it to build a competing dataset.
Every post and every profile in Bites carries a Report option. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. Content that breaks section 4 is removed, and the account responsible is warned, suspended or banned depending on how serious it is.
You can also block anyone, from their profile or straight after reporting them. A blocked person's posts and comments disappear from your view of Bites, and yours disappear from theirs. Blocks can be reviewed and undone under Settings → Blocked Accounts.
Bites additionally filters submitted text automatically and refuses to store the most obviously unacceptable language. That filter is a first line of defence, not a substitute for reporting — please report anything it misses.
To report something outside the app, or to raise something urgent, email bites.snacking@gmail.com.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete My Account. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, or that is being used to harm other people or the integrity of the price data.
Bites is provided "as is". It is an early-stage app run by one person; it may be unavailable, may change, and features may be added or removed. We will give notice of significant changes to these terms in the app, and the date at the top will be updated.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Bites is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from a price being inaccurate or out of date, from content posted by other users, or from a restaurant's conduct. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.
These additional terms apply, and Apple requires that they be stated:
